Today there are 74 new cases in the current outbreak which brings the total to 2,832.

Covid Response Minister Chris Hipkins and Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield gave the 1pm update today.

68 of today’s cases are in Auckland and six are in Waikato.

31 of today’s cases are yet to be linked and 19 of yesterday’s cases remain unlinked but investigations are underway.

At midnight tonight, Waikato will enter the same step-down Alert Level 3 that Tāmaki Makaurau is currently in.

All six cases in Waikato are in Hamilton and are linked to known cases.

The close contacts of the positive case that travelled to Blenheim have both returned negative tests.

41 people are in hospital with Covid-19, all in Auckland. Five of these people are in ICU or the high dependency unit.

The updated list of locations of interest can be found here at the Ministry of Health website
