A person with Covid 19 has died at Middlemore Hospital. There are also 39 new cases.
Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay announced the death and new cases at today’s 1pm update.
"Further details will be made available later today after discussions with their family," McElnay said.
"But on behalf of all New Zealanders, I'd like to recognise this family's loss and offer our sympathy."
The death brings the total number of people who have died from the Delta outbreak to 2.
New cases
39 new cases have been found in the community today with only 1 not being linked to a known cluster.
