There are 18 new community cases of Covid-19 today.

Of these, 13 are in Auckland, 3 in Waikato, 1 in Bay of Plenty, and 1 in Lakes. 

A person with Covid-19 has died at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital.  The family has requested that no further details be released.

There are 54 people in hospital, with 8 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 51.

94% percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 91% percent have had a second dose.

There have been 4,553,294 vaccine pass downloads, including 9,116 in the last 24 hours.

Waitematā DHB is only 125 first doses away from having 90 percent of its eligible Māori population received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
