There are 15,161 new cases of Covid-19 today.

The Ministry is reporting the death of one person with the virus in Auckland Hospital.

Of these cases, there are 382 in Northland, 7,226 in Auckland, 1,334 in Waikato, 937 in Bay of Plenty , 434 in Lakes, 336 in Hawke’s Bay, 378 in MidCentral, 59 in Whanganui, 239 in Taranaki, 166 in Tairāwhiti,  85 in Wairarapa, 1,161 in Capital and Coast, 648 in Hutt Valley, 233 in Nelson Marlborough, 1,019 in Canterbury, 52 in South Canterbury, 444 in Southern, 17 in West Coast and 11 in unknown locations. 

There are 618 people in hospital, with 10 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 55.

96.6 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 95.2 percent have had a second dose.

72.4 percent of the eligible population have had a booster shot.

 The total number of active community cases sits at 179,417.
