Of today’s 71 cases, 32 still need to be linked to the outbreak. 

Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay said cases were now being seen across many parts of Auckland. 

“Today's new case numbers are sobering but not unexpected because of where we are in the outbreak,” she said.

Of yesterday’s 55 cases, 21 remain unlinked.

There are 33 people in hospital, with 5 in ICU or the high dependency unit. One person is in hospital in Palmerston North, while the rest are in hospitals in Auckland. 

The number of cases in the current outbreak is now at 1790, 1189 are recovered.
