Covid update: 147 new cases today. A man with Covid has died at home in Auckland

The man was in his 60s and at his home in the suburb of Glen Eden.

Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said the cause of the man’s death would be looked at by the Coroner, including if it was Covid related. He described it as a sudden death overnight.

“Our thoughts are very much with this man’s friends and family at what will be a very stressful time,” Bloomfield said.

“Any deaths that could be Covid-19 related are fully investigated, whether they occur at home or in the hospital setting.”

The man is the third person who has died while isolating with Covid at home in this outbreak. Two deaths of people, also isolating in their Auckland homes, were reported last week.
