There have been 126 new cases of Covid-19 over the last two days. The Ministry of Health did not report new case numbers on Christmas Day (December 25), so today's numbers include yesterday and today's numbers.

Of these cases, 88 are Auckland, 17 in Waikato, 6 in Bay of Plenty, 13 in Lakes, 1 in Taranaki, and 1 in Northland.

There are 47 people in hospital, with 7 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 55.

80 percent of Māori have now had two doses of the vaccine.

94 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 91 percent have had a second dose.

414 cases are self-isolating at home in Auckland.
