People tell us what they are struggling to afford

Shit just costs more now. 

The Stats NZ Food Price Index released in July confirmed what New Zealanders are already feeling.

From June 2022 to June 2023, grocery food prices increased 12.8%, fruit and vegetables prices increased a whopping 22% and restaurant meals increased 9.2%.

Not to mention gas, rent and the long list of other costs you need to just exist as a human.

We chatted to young people in Grey Lynn in Tāmaki Makaurau about what they are struggling to afford during the cost of living crisis - and also what they are still buying, even though they can’t really afford to ??
