The Stats NZ Food Price Index released in July confirmed what New Zealanders are already feeling.
From June 2022 to June 2023, grocery food prices increased 12.8%, fruit and vegetables prices increased a whopping 22% and restaurant meals increased 9.2%.
Not to mention gas, rent and the long list of other costs you need to just exist as a human.
We chatted to young people in Grey Lynn in Tāmaki Makaurau about what they are struggling to afford during the cost of living crisis - and also what they are still buying, even though they can’t really afford to 😉😩
