Covid update Jan 7: 35 new cases

Friday January 7, 2022.

There are 35 new cases of Covid-19 today.

Of these, 18 are in Auckland, 1 in Waikato, 13 in Bay of Plenty, and 3 in the Lakes District.

There are 37 people in hospital, with 3 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 53.

95 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 92 percent have had a second dose.

There have been 4,675,518 vaccine pass downloads, including 16,823 in the last 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, 43,219 booster doses were administered.
