Today there are 55 new cases of Covid-19.

Of these, 41 are in Auckland, 4 in Waikato, 3 in Bay of Plenty, and 7 in Taranaki. 

There are 56 people in hospital, with 6 of those people in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 53.

94 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 90 percent have had a second dose.

There have been 4,369,755 vaccine pass downloads, including 1,589 in the last 24 hours.

A further five further cases of Omicron have been detected in international arrivals, taking New Zealand’s total to 13 cases with the variant. 

The eight millionth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has now been administered in New Zealand.
