Today there are 182 new community cases. Of these, 167 are in Auckland, five are in Northland and 10 are in Waikato. 

There are currently 93 people in hospital, with 10 in ICU.

Only 59 of today’s new cases have been epidemiologically linked as of yet. 

92 percent of eligible people in New Zealand have had their first dose of the vaccine and 85 percent are fully vaccinated.

Capital and Coast DHB in Wellington has reached 90 percent of its eligible population fully vaccinated, becoming only the second DHB in the country to achieve this after Auckland DHB.

An independent review into the deaths of two people who had tested positive for Covid-19 and were self-isolating at home found both deaths were potentially preventable and there were missed opportunities that contributed to their deaths.

“This is a very sad time for the whānau and friends of the deceased and our hearts and thoughts are with them as they come to terms with their loss,” the Ministry of Health said in their email press release. 

At 4pm today New Zealanders will hear what colour their region will enter into the traffic light system.
