Anti-mandate protesters have gathered by the thousands in Wellington. But some are stuck in the South Island, as they’re not allowed to get on the ferry because they refuse to wear a mask or show a negative test or vaccine pass.

They’d like to join the larger protest at Parliament, but because they can’t get on a boat, they’ve set up camp up in Picton.
