There are 25 new cases of Covid-19 today.

Of these new cases, 1 is in Northland, 18 are in Auckland, 2 in the Lakes District, 2 in Bay of Plenty, 1 in Mid Central, and 1 in Nelson Tasman.

Omicron update:

To date, there are 29 community cases of Omicron associated with the January Omicron Cluster.

All are in isolation.

There are 10 new Omicron cases today.

Of these new Omicron cases, 6 are in Auckland, 2 are in Tauranga, 1 is in Palmerston North and 1 is in the Nelson-Marlborough region. 

The cases in Palmerston North and Nelson-Marlborough are both contacts of exisiting cases. 

Hospitalisations, vaccines and booster shots

There are 10 people in hospital, no one is currently in intensive care or high dependency units.

The average age of people currently in hospital is 62.

 

95 percent of New Zealand's eligible population have had the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and 93 percent have had a second dose.

Yesterday, 56,788 boosters were administered. This is the highest number in one day so far, bringing the total to 1,053,055.

14,400 paediatric doses were administered which was another record high.

Nearly 95,000 5-to-11-year-olds have now received a first dose. 

There have been 4,909,476 vaccine pass downloads, including 15,941 in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health is urging anyone with symptoms, or anyone who has been to a location of interest at the times notified, to isolate immediately and get tested promptly.
